Solid State 1296  MHz Amplifier
by

Here is a recent construction project.  I got the kit from Down East Microwave and it took me about 6 hours to build.
I'm slow, but it turned out fine and works as specified.  I tried some small relays that work ok at HF, but they got hot
at 1296 MHz, so I put my old reliable Dow-Key relays in service.  I modified the input, so I can drive with the 10 watts
from my Kenwood TS-790A Tribander Transceiver. The amplifier will put out 30 to 40 watts. The input mods allow you
to drive with 50 mW to 10 Watt of power. The Module requires about 100 mW to drive.
The amplifier requires
a regulated 13.8 VDC at 10 Amps.

A quiet fan mounted on top cools the Heat Sink fins and runs constantly to insure good cooling!
